WALLINGFORD — The Wallingford Veterans Memorial Committee, chaired by David Holloway, has announced the schedule for ceremonies on Memorial Day weekend.
Events begin with the placement of American flags on graves of the deceased veterans on Saturday, May 25, at 9:30 a.m. at each of the town’s cemeteries.
A Sunday evening church service, open to the public, is scheduled at the Yalesville United Methodist Church, 8 New Place St., on May 26, at 7 p.m. Veterans posts, with their auxiliaries, and all other groups are asked to attend with their colors and standards. The ceremony American flag will be presented to the parade marshal, John Smith.
The annual Memorial Day Parade is Monday, May 27.
Participants will meet at Dutton Park at 8:30 a.m. The ceremony will be held before the parade, at 9 a.m., at Dutton Park. The parade will step off at 10 a.m. and will proceed south on North Main Street to Center Street, turning left and proceeding to South Elm Street, turning right and proceeding to Doolittle Park, where the units will disburse.
